Hello and welcome to my portfolio site!
I'm Rick van der Werf a visual artist from the Netherlands.
And I'm going to tell a little bit more about myself in this section.
In my younger years I always loved drawing, playing video games, design little websites and Photoshop.
Though the years that never changed. It even started to become more then a hobby.
My profile essay was even about game design. So you can imagine the next step already!
Art school.
After finishing High school I went to the Graphic Lyceum Rotterdam. In the second year I chose the direction of Game Art. Although I really loved almost every option there. This felt as the right choice, because now I could merge all my hobbies into one and become a professional in it.
In my time at the GLR I learned a lot about art and creating it. I had some awesome internships at Cruden and DPDK. After graduating it gave me a lot of perspective for the future!
My next step is earning a Bachelor degree. At my internship at DPDK I learned that I love the whole spectrum of visual art. And in such a digital agency there are a lot of options as an all-round visual specialist.
So for my Bachelor degree I decided to study Communication & Multimedia Design. Because here I can become that all-round visual specialist!
Just like most people, I do enjoy some spare-time. In my spare-time I'll try of course to improve my visual skills and learn new skills.
Some other activities are playing the guitar and games. But a few times a week you can also find me in the Gym. A healthy mind in a healthy body.
I also love traveling with my friends. We travel though a lot of events, mostly Rock and Metal concerts and festivals. But also car races, city trips, theme parks and more.
There is always something in the planning!
